Wine of Hunter Valley appellation
Hunter Valley is roughly 2 hours drive north of Sydney in New South Wales. This region produces less than 2% of Australian wines, but includes some of the oldest winemaking families in the country.

The first vines were planted in the Hunter Valley in the early 1820’s when the first roads were built.

The Semillon is the grape variety that propelled Hunter Valley onto the international stage, but as the climate is similar to the Mediterranean, other varieties are also at home in the region, including the Syrah (Shiraz), the Chardonnay and the Verdelho.
