The Listrac-Médoc AOC
is located on the high-lying land of the Médoc peninsula in the Bordeaux region. Listrac-Médoc was granted AOC status in 1957, which requires that the appellation's wines come exclusively from the commune of Listrac. Today, the vineyards cover around 566 hectares.
Although the Listrac-Médoc vineyards are subjected to cold and frost, they are protected from mildew due to their more continental location, far from the coastal mists and the Gironde estuary. The clay-limestone soil, spread over gentle slopes, provides good drainage and has an exposure conducive to the ripening of the grapes. The permitted grape varieties are primarily Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, accompanied by a smaller amount of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
A red wine of character which retains surprising freshness with age, Listrac-Médoc remains accessible without losing its personality over time. You can acquaint (or reacquaint) yourself with this superb appellation through the wines produced by Château Reverdi and Château Donissan.
