belongs to the Penavayre family who have been growing grapes in the Vacquiers area, in the heart of the Fronton and Vin de Pays du Comté Tolosan appellations, for several generations. Marc Penavayre took over and enlarged the domaine in 1991, taking up the reins from his father, Louis. Today Château Plaisance
has 30 hectares of vineyards.
In the early 2000’s, Chateau Plaisance started to focus on the use of alternative wine growing techniques, the work in the vineyards respecting the terroir as much as possible, without the use of fertilizers or weed killers. The emphasis is placed on natural products, resulting in a harvest of very ripe, healthy and carefully-sorted grapes. The vinification work is designed to "let the earth speak", as they put it. According to this principle, the wines ferment with the natural yeasts present on the grape skin, which helps bring out the typical character of the grape variety.
Château Plaisance has been officially certified as organic since the 2011 vintage.
