Saint-Julien Grand Cru Classé Château Beychevelle
covers 90 hectares (222 acres) of exceptional vineyards that sit on a deep soil of gravel from the Garonne River. A viticultural tradition dating back to the Middle Ages and vigilant selection and élevage raise this wine to perfection. The château is owned by Grands Millésimes de France, a subsidiary of GMF, SUNTORY, and ETHIAS.
Thanks to a passionate directorship and enthusiastic team, Château Beychevelle earned its certification in lutte raisonnée through Terra Vitis in 2005. Other wines made according to the same strict standards of quality are produced by the château: a second Saint-Julien, Amiral de Beychevelle, and an Haut-Médoc, Brulières de Beychevelle. The flagship wine of Château Beychevelle comes from vines that average 28 years of age and is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Traditional vinification is followed by an élevage of 18 months in oak barrels, half of which are new.
