Domaine de Disznoko
(“The rock of the wild boar”) owes its name to a large rock at the foot of the white pavilion overlooking the property, which, according to the locals, resembles a wild boar. The property, classified as a "Premier Cru" in 1734, has belonged to several noble families. In the early 19th century, Menyhért Lónyay built the Yellow House there, which was the property’s cellar at the time. This beautiful classical building is now home to one of the most famous restaurants in the area.
In 1992, Domaine de Disznoko was acquired by the AXA Millésimes Group. Since then the Group has invested heavily in the estate which has undergone a complete restructuring. The wines of Tokaj are now able to reconnect with their glorious past.
Much of the Domaine Disznoko vineyards were replanted with the Furmint and Harslevelo grape varieties. An ageing cellar was dug into the rock near the new vinification facilities. Domaine de Disznoko produces a full range of consistently high-quality Tokaj wines: Dry White Wine, Late Harvest, Aszú, Aszú Eszencia and Eszencia, the last three often nicknamed “Gold from Hungary”.
