Vineyard rated (guide 2019) : 4****Stars (The producers of very high-quality wines, those who are the glory of the French vineyard)
About the vineyard : The great House of Ribeauvillé has built its image and its commercial success around the riesling, which represents half of the volumes. Completely dry, incisive and gastronomic Rieslings because the House has been establishing its international influence on all starred restaurants around the world. The grapes are either purchased or coming from the estate's vineyards, located on the terroirs of Ribeauvillé and surroundings, which give this special salinity to the wines. In riesling, Frederic-Emile and Clos-Sainte-Hune are regularly at the tops, their alter ego in gewürzt is the cuvée Seigneur-de-Ribeaupierre. Great evolution: after decades refusing any mention of grand cru on the labels (Clos Sainte-Hune is a Rosacker but not labeled as such ! ), Trimbach finally sells a grand cru Geisberg, from the vines of the convent of Ribeauvillé recently included in operation. And it's a Riesling, obviously.
About the vineyard : Pillar of Ribeauvillé, the maison Trimbach quietly crossed the four centuries, with the standing Hubert Trimbach, his nephews Jean and Pierre, and his daughter Anne. Among the jewels of the House, the riesling Clos Sainte-Hune (located in the grand cru Rosacker), with impeccable aging and with unfailing regularity, for more than thirty years, making it one of the most sought after wines of Alsace. Cuvée Frédéric Émile, from a parcel halfway between the Grands Crus Geisberg and Osterberg, is also very recommendable. In order to market more affordable cuvées for tasting, the family will offer up to mid-2016 its two great Rieslings on the 2009 vintage, while awaiting the very promising 2008 and 2010. We welcome the willingness of the House to produce the driest wines possible, with always a highly digestible and accessible character. Cane for aging, beware of the excessive protection on the Rieslings. Entry-level wines seem to be consistent on the vintage 2013, to be confirmed next year.
