was created in 1959 by the merger of the vineyard properties of the Humbrecht family, in Gueberschwihr, and the Zind family, in Wintzenheim. Now one of the most famous wineries in Alsace and all of France, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is in the heart of the Herrenweg de Turckheim zone, in the region's greatest terroirs. Continuing a family tradition that dates back to 1620, Léonard Humbrecht has now passed the reins to his son Olivier, an agricultural engineer by training who has gradually converted the entire property to biodynamic viticulture, completing its Ecocert certification in 2000.
The expertise at Domaine Zind-Humbrecht lies as much in the care taken in the vineyards as in the vinification methods used, both of which lead to a single goal: perpetually honing quality. The estate is remarkably consistent in producing top-notch wines. Thanks to rigorous observation of their different terroirs, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is among the very best wineries in Alsace and an enduring model for its peers.
