Zaccharie is the prestigious wine from the estate, always very concentrated, with perfumes of ripe fruits like black currant and blackberry. A round and warm wine, loaded with spices, racy and very elegant. A beautiful bottle !

Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France

Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France

Wine rated (guide 2018) : 18/20 (Millésime 2015) (Vin de référence)
Vineyard rated (guide 2020) : 4****Stars (The producers of very high-quality wines, those who are the glory of the French vineyard)

About the vineyard : We admire the work accomplished by Claude Geoffray, and his son Claude Edouard, arrived at the estate in 2007. Rare are the estates keeping a consistency through the different vintages. The wines show an exemplary confidence in style, finding its apotheosis in the last vintages. The body, the texture and the potential of the cuvées from the Côte de Brouily don't have a known equivalent. In ascending order of price, 7 vignes, blend of different terroirs, give a quite supple wine. Then comes La Chapelle, a parcel of 2 hectares located on the top of the hill, South exposed and steep, on a rocky soil. Generally denser, Les Griottes de Brulhié, acquired in 2006, benefits from a very sunny exposure. Finally, the cuvée Zacharie gathers a savvy blend of those different parcels. It is aged in oak, including 5 to 10% in new oak to be cellared.

The Côte de Brouilly AOC has been a recognised commune appellation since 1938. The Côte-de-Brouilly vineyards cover around 310 hectares in the communes of Saint-Lager, Odenas, Quincié and Cercié. The soils are made up of “métatufs” and “métadiorites”, a hard rock of volcanic origin, the famous "blue stone" of the Côte-de-Brouilly. The western slope of the Brouilly hill ...
