« The 2013 Morgon has a bright and "perky" nose: Morello cherry and cranberry leaf scents racing from the glass, all nicely defined and exuberant. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy, ripe red cherry and boysenberry fruit, very fleshy and supply in the mouth, almost a "playful" Morgon that slips down the throat a treat. Not an intellectual Morgon, but one that is very well crafted. » (Wine Advocate 2015 - Robert Parker)

Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France

Wine rated (guide 2016) : 15/20 (Très bon vin)
Vineyard rated (guide 2020) : 4****Stars (The producers of very high-quality wines, those who are the glory of the French vineyard)

About this wine : Fruité bien rouge, ouvert, bouche dense et serré, de la mâche, bel avenir.

About the vineyard : The estate, porperty of Louis Jadot but independently managed by Guillaume de Castelnau and his team, has grown since its acquisition in 1996. Today, the vineyards covers 90 hectares, mostly in Moulin-à-Vent for which it is a specialist, not without reason since it possesses plots in the best areas, like Rochegrès, la Roche, Carquelins and recently la Rochelle. A respectful viticulture, a careful winemaking and well-balanced agings, everything works to make great wines of Beaujolais, evolving perfectly with time.

Wine Advocate - Robert Parker

Wine rated (guide 2015) : 90/100 (Vin formidable)
Vineyard rated : Recommended (Winery recommended by the Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Wine rated (guide 2016) : 14,5/20 (Bon vin)

About the vineyard : This flagship estate of Moulin-à-Vent was purchased by  Jadot in 1996. This acquisition has proven to be successful with a rise that very few Beaujolais estates had experienced for almost twenty years. It was a bold, but now transformed, bet for which Pierre-Henri Gagey was committed based on the know-how of Guillaume de Castelnau, the current Director of the Château since 2000. 2014 will be his last harvest as he takes a well deserved retirement. He delimited precisely the various terroirs and developped the area, reaching today about 90 ha in production. The "Burgundian" wines had long given a unique signature in the region. But in recent years, other areas were inspired by this original vision of gamay the Château des Jacques had initiated. All the cuvées parcellaires require a minimum of five years to fully express the unique character of their terroir. It therefore takes patience to take advantage of their complexity !

Bien, mais on pouvait s'attendre à mieux. Fallait-il le garder? Millésime très moyen également...

Nestling in the Beaujolais hills, the small village of Villié-Morgon has become a mandatory stopping-off point for wine lovers, because of its appeal and its location on the Beaujolais wine route in the heart of the grands crus. The Morgon AOC dates from 1935, when a National Institute of Appellations of Origin (INAO) decree gave it its birth. The Morgon appellation vineyards are ...
