The Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux
AOC is located on the hills that run approximately 100 kilometres from north to south and which enjoy excellent exposure to the sun. Overlooking the Gironde estuary, the Blayais vineyards have a terroir of incredible richness. Facing its hilly landscape is the almost sea-like horizon created by the banks of the estuary: half-river, half-sea, the Gironde has been a constant factor throughout the history of this land. The vineyard grows on the plain, hillsides and high plateaux.
Due to the amount of sun received (240 days per year) and the numerous geological movements of the past, each of the three Blayais cantons' terroirs possess their own typical character.
The red Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux AOC wines are mainly produced from the Merlot grape variety. These are easy-drinking wines with a deep colour and fruity notes. The white Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux AOC wines are made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety and boast a pale yellow colour. With a distinctive nose of citrus and broom aromas, lovely crispness and a long finish, these are wines of intense finesse.
The Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux AOC wines are aromatic and pleasant-drinking with subtle fruity notes and supple tannins which are very typical of the terroir.
