About this wine : Sweet black currant, lead pencil shavings, charcoal and camphor aromas are followed by a medium-bodied, front end-loaded, dark ruby/purple-colored wine with attractive fruit, medium body, sweet tannin and a surprisingly well-balanced, long finish. This potentially outstanding wine is another example of how successful Pessac-Leognan was in 2012.

About this wine : Encore sur la réserve, le rouge 2012 évolue doucement. De fins arômes fumés commencent à percer à l'aération, mais ils restent encore discrets.  Ne craignez pas de le mettre en cave cinq ans.

About the vineyard : Ce cru classé a produit les plus grands blancs de Bordeaux des années 1980. Après avoir été vendu en 1994 à la Banque Populaire, Fieuzal a décliné jusqu'en 2001.  C'est cette année là que l'homme d'affaire Irlandais Lochlann Quinn s' en porte acquéreur, puis embauche Stephen Carrier comme nouveau directeur. Dès lors, le cru retrouve un excellent niveau, avec une recherche évidente de corps, de tenue et d' élégance tannique dans les rouges, grâce, entre autres, aux conseils d' Hubert de Boüard. Et les blancs renouent avec leur caractère très entier, se montrent mûrs et finement boisés tout en affichant moins d' exubérance. Des vins vraiment dans leur époque ! Grâce aux  investissements consacrés à la reconstruction d' un chai et d' un cuvier moderne (permettant des vinifications en cuves de bois, inox ou béton), les derniers millésimes renouent avec les belles années de ce cru classé. Fieuzal a terminé en 2015 son programme de 15 hectares de replantation, débuté en 2007. La propriété a décidé de s'engager dans un début de conversion bio et biodynamique avec l'objectif d'être certifié d'ici 2020.

About this wine : Avec quatre variétés, dont 70 % de cabernet-sauvignon, l'encépagement s'inscrit dans la tradition bordelaise, comme le bouquet de ce vin. Très « graves » et fort élégant, celui-ci mêle les fruits noirs et rouges mûrs à des notes fumées et épicées. Après une attaque franche et vive, les mêmes arômes réapparaissent dans une bouche ample, généreuse et charnue, adossée à des tanins bien ciselés. Une finale longue, fraîche et équilibrée clôt harmonieusement la dégustation.
