The family estate Domaine Huguenot
has been passed from father to son for ten generations. Currently run by Philippe Huguenot, the property is composed of 23 hectares (57 acres) of vineyards in the Côte de Nuits appellations of Marsannay, Fixin, and Gevrey-Chambertin.
For a full twenty years Domaine Huguenot has placed great importance on eco-friendly practices, a philosophy that has driven significant change in the vineyard work over the years. First, pesticides and insecticides were dropped from the arsenal; then the family increased their reliance on plowing and year-round efforts. In 2013 the estate became fully certified in organic viticulture.
Domaine Huguenot follows their meticulous work in the vines with gentle vinifications. The grapes undergo strict sorting in the winery and are transferred only by gravity in order to keep the berries intact. Elevage lasts a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 18 months, depending on the wine. This long maturation is a guarantee of purity, complexity, and precision.
