Established in 1880, Joseph Drouhin
now cultivates 73 hectares (180 acres) of estate-owned vineyards, making it one of the largest producers in the region. This vast property includes parcels in every area of Burgundy: Chablis, the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, and the Côte Chalonnaise. Most of these plots are in grand cru or premier cru appellations and are planted to the Burgundian varieties, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Domaine Joseph Drouhin owns vineyards in some of Burgundy's most famous appellations, including Clos des Mouches, Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche, Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, and Corton-Charlemagne, to name just a few. In some areas the winery complements its own holdings with long-standing partnerships with growers who share its strict standards of quality. Since 1990 all vineyards are worked organically or biodynamically, using only natural products. With a range of wines spanning about 90 appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating tour of Burgundy's terroirs, revealing the nuances unique to each one. The house style is harmonious and distinctive; in their youth the wines have a subtle freshness, and with age they develop a sumptuous complexity. They can be found in the best restaurants, and Joseph Drouhin takes pride in sharing the best of Burgundy with wine lovers around the world.
