Founded in 1859, the great winery of Louis Jadot
is run today by the talented duo of Pierre-Henry Gagey, who manages the commercial side of the business, and Jacques Lardière, a gifted enologist with a deft touch. Together they have raised the wines of Louis Jadot to the peak of Burgundy's most prestigious appellations. The estate controls 150 hectares (370 acres) of vineyards in Burgundy, of which 70 hectares (175 acres) are in the Côte-d'Or, and all are in such illustrious appellations as Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Meursault.
This winery's forte is its ability to understand the multiplicity of terroirs in Burgundy and draw out the best they have to offer. For twenty years Louis Jadot has shunned synthetic products in the vineyards in favor of plowing, following the principles of lutte raisonnée–the only way to guarantee full respect for the Earth. This fully modern operation is widely applauded for its consistency and is second to none in offering ever more enchanting wines.
