Domaine de la Soufrandière
, an old estate located in Vinzelles in the southern Mâconnais, was acquired by A.J. Bret in 1947. At the time, Domaine de la Soufrandière’s surface under vine covered 1 hectare, in the "Les Quarts" Climat in the Pouilly-Vinzelles AOC. A.J. Bret began the expansion of the vineyards and this was continued by Jean-Paul Bret, the third of A.J. and Louise Bret’s four offspring.
Since 2000, Domaine de la Soufrandière
has been managed by Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe Bret, a talented duo who want their viticulture to be “closer to nature”. Both at La Soufrandière, where the vineyards have the ECOCERT organic certification, and as part of their trading activity (Bret Brothers)
, they work in partnership with wine growers who are attuned to their terroir. The oldest Chardonnay vines’ exceptional exposure on a southeast-facing slope and the living clay-limestone soil rich in silica crystals give birth to a unique wine from Domaine de la Soufrandière
’s "Les Quarts" climat.
