Domaine de l'Hortus
, located between the Pic Saint-Loup and Hortus mountains, sits on the hills of the Montpellier hinterland in the Languedoc region. Domaine de l'Hortus has been the pride of the Orliac family for over 25 years. Today, Marie-Thérèse and Jean are at the helm and have made the domaine one of the most emblematic of the Coteaux du Languedoc appellation. They are also behind much the fame of the Pic Saint-Loup wine region.
The Domaine de l'Hortus vineyards are managed by the Orliac family. They cover 50 hectares on limestone scree, with a perfect northeast exposure, where the Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache (for red), and the Chardonnay, Viognier and Roussanne (for white), express themselves beautifully. The family also manages the Clos du Prieur, an enclave of 10 hectares in the heart of the Buèges valley. L’Hortus is a living domaine, deeply rooted in its terroir, yet contemporary, preferring to use traditional harvesting and winemaking methods, respectful of nature, wine and man.
