The hand-picked chenin makes here a pretty Coteaux du Layon, a typical dessert wine that combines aromas of ripe fruits and notes of citrus rind with nuances of exotic oak and tobacco. There is also an expression of exotic fruits on the palate, with a mineral touch and a beautiful freshness. A very elegant Layon !

Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France

Vineyard rated (guide 2020) : 1*Star (A reliable production, recommendable, in line with expectations from the appellation(s))

These vineyards on the banks of the Layon were developed by Dutch traders from 1579. Due to their high degree of alcohol (16-17% vol.) the wines from this region travelled better than other wines. What’s more, they suited the taste of the Dutch drinkers and it was only their high quality (and corresponding price) that allowed them to bear the export tax levied by Brittany. Harvesting ...
