After seeing a succession of several generations of winemakers, Domaine Maby
is still a family-owned estate, settled in the very cradle of Côtes du Rhône, just North of Avignon. The vineyard covers 60 hectares in 3 AOCs : Tavel, Lirac, Côtes du Rhône, and a Vin de Pays des Coteaux de Cèze.
Domaine Maby is committed to follow sustainable farming methods. Tavel and Lirac share the same terroir of rounded pebbles as Châteauneuf du Pape. These pebbles, torn from the Alps by the Rhône river during the prehistory, allow the grapes to reach perfect maturity by keeping the heat during the day and releasing it at night.
The Tavel wine of Domaine Maby is made of nine grape varieties, including Grenache and Cinsault, bringing fruitiness and spiciness to the famous rosé. A low-temperature vatting of one to two days brings a bright colour, ranging from light pink to ruby, and very soft tannins giving it a great aging potential. A slow fermentation at a low temperature allows to keep the fruitiness of the wine.
The Lirac rouge of Domaine Maby is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The Lirac blanc of Grenache blanc, Clairette and Picpoul. The Grenache blanc brings an intense fruity character (apricot and pear), the Clairette brings roundness, and the Picpoul brings the freshness. All together it shows a well-balanced wine with good aging potential.
