Calmel & Joseph
was founded in 1995 by Jérôme Joseph, a native of Languedoc and lover of the culinary arts, who was strongly drawn to the world of wine. This self-taught man, a wine selector and taster, wanted to produce wines in the Languedoc, one of the richest and also most complex wine regions in France. His ambition was fulfilled when, in 2007, he met Laurent Calmel, an oenologist with extensive experience working abroad.
Convinced by the potential of the wines from the Languedoc region, they work closely with a large number of wine growers, and vinify, blend and age their wines as naturally as possible based on a stringent selection of vineyard parcels.
The growing methods used by Calmel & Joseph are natural and environmentally-friendly (but without certification). The entire range of wines is the result of a very rigorous selection of individual vineyards.
The grapes are picked by hand, undergo a gentle vinification, careful blending and smooth bottling to preserve the balance and original aromas of the local grape varieties.
