Domaine La Casenove is a very old wine estate which has remained in the same family for over four hundred years. Managed by Etienne Montes, Domaine La Casenove consists of 50 hectares in a single plot of land, located 10 kilometres south of Perpignan, near the Mediterranean and the first hills of the Aspres. It produces some of the best Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes in the region as well as delectable fortified wines such as Rivesaltes and Muscat de Rivesaltes.
The grape varieties planted at Domaine La Casenove are traditionally associated with this southern region and have, over the years, demonstrated that they suit the terroir perfectly. The clay soil containing discontinuous veins of river pebbles results in Vins de Pays des Côtes Catalan which are full-bodied, powerful and meaty with firm yet coated tannins. The heterogeneity of Domaine La Casenove’s plots requires a meticulous selection process at the time of harvesting which is carried out by hand after tasting the grapes. The range of varietals and the age difference between the vines allows, and requires, the production of several wines. The wines of Domaine La Casenove are well crafted, authentic and a treat for wine connoisseurs.
