La Madone Estate
Domaine de La Madone is located on the renowned La Madone hillside in Fleurie, in the Beaujolais region. This hillside is often considered by connoisseurs to be the finest of the appellation’s climats. It enjoys exceptional sunshine, and its soil consists of pink granite, which is ideal for the Gamay grape variety. Domaine de La Madone has been owned by the Despres family for five generations. Today, Jean Marc and Maryse Despres have the honor of producing the wine and marketing it worldwide.

The vineyards at Domaine de La Madone are cultivated using sustainable farming practices to prioritize quality while respecting the environment. Significant efforts are currently being made in vineyard management to improve grape ripening and reduce the use of pesticides. The grapes are harvested by hand by about thirty pickers and are rigorously sorted to select only the ripest and healthiest ones. Jean Marc Despres vinifies his wine traditionally and in accordance with the ancestral rules of the Fleurie appellation, highlighting the terroir and the fruit. This allows him to produce a fruity wine with aging potential. After aging in tanks or barrels for 6 months to 1 year, depending on the vintage, the wine is bottled at the estate. The vineyards of Domaine de La Madone cover 13 hectares.
