Domaine de La Madone
Domaine de La Madone is located on the renowned Madone hillside in Fleurie, in the Beaujolais region. This hillside is often considered by connoisseurs to be the best terroir in the area. It enjoys exceptional sunshine and its soil is composed of pink granite, which is ideal for the Gamay grape variety. Domaine de La Madone has been owned by the Despres family for five generations. Today, Jean Marc and Maryse Despres have the honor of producing the wine and marketing it worldwide.
The vines at Domaine de La Madone are cultivated using sustainable methods that prioritize quality while respecting the environment. Significant efforts are currently being made in vine management to improve grape ripening and reduce the use of phytosanitary products. The grapes are harvested manually by around thirty pickers and are rigorously sorted to select only the ripest and healthiest. Jean Marc Despres vinifies his wine traditionally and in accordance with the ancestral rules of the Fleurie appellation, bringing out the terroir and the fruit. This allows him to obtain a fruity wine with good aging potential. After aging in vats or barrels for 6 months to 1 year, depending on the cuvée, the wine is bottled at the estate. The Domaine de La Madone vineyard covers 13 hectares.
