Notes: Robert Parker 92/100, RVF 16.5/20
“The 2011 Morgon Javernieres presents a more refined and caressing profile than its Côte Py counterpart. It also displays beautiful flavor concentration and a delightful sense of lightness. The wisteria notes remind me of the estate’s courtyard in summer, with fresh cherry and pomegranate mingling with meaty notes and hints of the sea. Notes of white pepper, fresh ginger, and crushed stone energize an enticing finish that compels you to take the next sip. Pay attention to this gem worthy of the Beaujolais crus; superb until at least 2018.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

About the estate:

This iconic Beaujolais estate, renowned for both its history and its reputation, is a shining star in Morgon and throughout the Beaujolais region. The vineyard spans 13 hectares, five of which are located on the Côte de Py. At the helm of the estate, Claude-Emmanuelle and her brother Louis-Benoît, known for their rigor and attention to detail, are the worthy successors to a tradition of excellence. The latest vintages, combining finesse and richness, are always elegant.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)

About the estate:

Anyone who has tasted a wine from the Desvignes siblings—Claude-Emmanuelle and Louis-Benoît—has experienced a special emotion. Here, the pursuit of aesthetic excellence focuses on the subtle expression of specific vineyard sites (primarily in Morgon), the right balance of substance according to the vintage, and aging potential—all stemming from meticulous viticulture, sensitive winemaking free from dogma, and refined, wood-free aging. The third star has been pinned to the estate’s lapel for several years now, and given the consistency and coherence of the range, we suspect it will remain there for many years to come.

Not enough wine; the value for money isn't there; a disappointment for this fine Morgon.

Well above what one would expect from a Beaujolais. An interesting discovery.

Garnet color. The nose offers tangy red and black fruits—raspberry, blackberry, and red currants—with a hint of pepper and ginger. The palate is fruit-forward, with tension, minerality, and balance, and a tight finish marked by ginger that will allow the wine to age for 3–4 years.
