A prestigious Beaujolais cru, this Moulin-à-Vent is the result of a partnership with an excellent winemaker. Its vines are old and are located above the village of Chénas. A wine of beautiful finesse with aromas of black fruit, spices, and forest floor. The 2009 vintage can be enjoyed now but will, of course, continue to improve over the next five to seven years. A great wine born from a great terroir and a truly exceptional vintage! Last bottles available at the estate, limited to 3 bottles per customer!

Rated estate (2021 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

Based in the small village of Charnay, Jean-Paul Brun is renowned throughout the region for his magnificent white wines, which almost make us forget his delicious Beaujolais, such as the Buissy, whose bouquet should serve as a benchmark for all Beaujolais producers. Cultivating 48 hectares across 6 different crus, Jean-Paul Brun has proven year after year for nearly 30 years that he is a master winemaker! In a Burgundian style, where Gamay takes on the character of Pinot (or, if you prefer, Pinot that “Gamay-izes”), he crafts the aromas and refines the palate with delicacy, sometimes in oak, without ever seeking power. The 2017 vintage, more substantial than 2016, is a success for Jean-Paul Brun, particularly the luminous whites and a Buissy-l’Ancien that is as exceptional as ever.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

From the sun-drenched region of the Pierres Dorées, Jean-Paul Brun—one of the pioneers of the Beaujolais renaissance—has brought his region to the forefront, from young wines to the renowned crus he has patiently acquired through his work in the southern Beaujolais. Here, the identity of the terroirs is as strong as the drinkability of the wines, in which one can sense the winemaker’s velvety touch. Proof that it is possible to produce wines in significant volumes while maintaining high quality. Whether white, red, or sparkling, the wine lover is almost always in for a treat, thanks to the wines’ consistency and the winemaker’s personal, flavorful interpretation of the terroirs. He was recently joined by Tristan Larsen to assist him.

Okay. On the other hand, the corks are a bit weak. One bottle from 2009 and two from 2010 have corked.
