2*Coup de Coeur

Hachette

“Already featured in the 2018 edition with an impressive star rating, Olivier Depardon returns with a Régnié full of charm and harmony. To achieve this, he destemmed his grapes and then aged them briefly in tanks. The aromatic profile reveals intense notes of ripe red and black fruits, with a hint of spice to boot. The palate, equally rich in fruit, is full-bodied, round, and long, supported by silky, refined tannins.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019) A true delight!

Tasted in November 2019. A slight effervescence on the palate that’s surprising but not unpleasant. A nose of crisp fruit. Smooth and fleeting on the palate. A wine to enjoy; in my opinion, Régnié doesn’t measure up to the other Beaujolais AOCs.

A beautiful deep purple color, with an intense yet fresh nose of black fruit; the palate is tight and relatively intense as well, though somewhat short, with noticeable tannins. A fine expression of Gamay.

A deep purple color; small crystals visible in the glass (tartaric acid?), a lovely, subtle fruity nose that develops a very slight tartness upon aeration. On the palate, nice acidity and fruit, but hard tannins and formidable astringency. Did the winemaker intend to make a wine for aging? For now, it’s not a very pleasant wine.

A lovely, fairly deep ruby color for a Gamay. A pleasant attack of red fruit, supported by a nice, well-controlled bitterness. The finish is enjoyable. I like the balance and the value for money.
