"The 2006 vintage is a beautiful wine and stands out as one of the best of the year. With an intense golden color, it displays waxy and honeyed notes, along with pineapple and citrus marmalade, and delicate aromas of new oak. The wine makes a full-bodied impression on the palate with superb acidity, freshness, and moderate sweetness. It is a beauty, but perhaps one that is evolving much more rapidly than some of their greatest vintages.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2011 guide) 17,5/20 (Reference wine)
Rated (2016 Guide) 5* Stars (Exceptional producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)
About the wine:
Rich, creamy, and very long-lasting, with a slightly caramelized flavor; it typically reduces slightly after bottling, but this does not detract from the overall magnificent character of the wine.
About the estate:
By unanimous agreement, Climens is the finest of the Barsac wines: the nature of its limestone-based soil gives it an extra touch of acidity that perfectly balances its rich body, which has often been considerable in recent vintages, thanks to the transition to biodynamic viticulture. Yet there remains something mysterious, even when taking into account the skill of the men and women who have managed it (today, Bérénice Lurton), in the extraordinary, even transcendent finesse of its aromas.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2011 guide) 18.5/20 (Outstanding)
Rated (2012 Guide) 6* Stars (Exceptional Quality)
About the wine:
This Barsac is beautifully structured, with a rare finesse and richness; it offers notes of citrus, exotic fruits, apricots, honey, and spices. It displays great elegance. The finish is fresh and wonderfully enticing.
About the estate:
Climens is undoubtedly the most refined and sweetest of the Barsac wines. With an exceptional terroir comprising a single, nearly contiguous plot, Sémillon is the estate’s sole grape variety.

Wine rated (2011 guide) 19/20 (Exceptional wine)
Rated estate (2016 guide): 3 stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)
About the estate:
Château Climens has been owned by Lucien Lurton’s family since 1971. Today, the estate is brilliantly managed by his daughter, Bérénice. Few French sweet wines stand out for a bouquet as pure and elegant as that of this Barsac Premier Cru Classé. It owes its transcendent quality to its exceptional terroir, which produces harvests as rich in sugar as those in Sauternes, but with a palette of aromas that is often more complex and diverse. The team’s expertise is also key to this success: depending on the various lots harvested with varying degrees of botrytis, Bérénice Lurton, alongside her director Frédéric Nivelle, crafts masterful blends that are true works of art. Aware of the viticultural and cultural changes of recent years, Bérénice Lurton has committed her vineyard to a transition to biodynamic farming.

About the wine:
Beautiful aromas of orange zest give way to notes of gingerbread, caramel, and crème brûlée. This is a superb wine—rich and full-bodied, with a core of botrytis, spice, and fresh acidity.
