2002: Full-bodied and silky, with refined tannins…
Hachette Guide 2** Stars, Le Point 16/20, RVF 15/20, Gault Millau 88/100, R. Parker 87/100With a lovely deep purple color and aromas of dark berries over hints of vanilla and a touch of chocolate, this 2002 vintage offers ripe fruit and good body. Dense on the palate with elegant tannins, it boasts a beautiful structure. The ripeness of the grapes, harvested at full maturity, plays a major role in the quality of this wine, which contains a higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (67%) than Merlot (23%). It is already very pleasant and will benefit from another two to three years of cellaring to perfect its development and fully blossom...

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2022 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
This estate was acquired by Simon Halabi, a lover of fine Médoc wines, who has provided a motivated team—led by the very friendly and talented José Sanfins—with the resources to improve quality. The most recent vintages have all been successful: wines that are rather full-bodied for Margaux but harmonious in their power. The second wine, Brio, lacks a bit of panache, despite its name, but the estate produces a lovely dry white Bordeaux appellation wine called Alto.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
Dominated by an imposing Neo-Tudor-style castle built in the 19th century by the Scottish wildlife painter John Lewis Brown, this 48-hectare estate, planted on beautiful gravel soils in the heart of the appellation, has enjoyed a renaissance, first thanks to the Axa Group and, since 2006, under the leadership of the Halabi family, who entrusted its management to José Sanfins.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
This beautiful and imposing Margaux estate consistently produces high-quality wines worthy of its classification. Its dynamic director, José Sanfins, who trained at the Cazes and Axa Millésime schools, knows how to craft wines that are charming yet deep and rich (such as the white Alto, produced in limited quantities). A new owner, the Le Lous family, has even higher ambitions. An additional 10 hectares were acquired in 2020, and major modernization work on the production facilities is planned. The estate is not resting on its laurels!
