The 2009 vintage was rated: Guide Hachette 1* (Very successful wine)
As the estate’s second wine, Tour Pibran is a deep Pauillac with hints of vanilla and spice, along with aromas of black fruit. The attack on the palate is full-bodied and structured, the tannins are concentrated and juicy, the fruit is precise, elegant, rounded, and fresh, with a harmonious, smooth, long finish, carried by the generosity of the vintage. A truly beautiful bottle!

Très belle bouteille que l'on peut garder une dizaine d'année mais qui va ravir les impatients qui l'apprécieront rapidement sur les viandes rouges, agneau, canard... <br/>

Rated Estate (2016 Guide) Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more of its wines, though we are unable to offer a general assessment of the style of its entire range)
About the estate:
Owned by Axa, this vineyard is ideally situated on a gravelly ridge, with such prestigious neighbors as Pontet-Canet and d’Armailhac. With the acquisition of Château Tour Pibran in 2001, the choice of vineyard plots allowed Jean-René Matignon and the teams at Pichon-Baron to select the best for Pibran and create a second wine.

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
Located on the hillside between Pontet-Canet and Armailhac, Pibran was acquired by AXA Millésimes in 1987. Winemaker Jean-René Matignon, from Pichon-Longueville, crafts this wine, which consistently stands out among the elite of the crus bourgeois, characterized by a very classic Pauillac style that blends richness with tannic structure. Full-bodied, aromatic, and approachable early on, it ages well and with grace.
