A master winemaker at his flagship estate, Mas Amiel in Roussillon, Olivier Decelle took over Château Jean-Faurein 2004 and revived this estate from the ashes. Located in Saint-Emilion on a fabulous terroir alongside Cheval Blanc, it enjoys a unique setting at the heart of the “magic square” of Saint-Emilion’s classified Grand Crus. In 2005, it is expressive, fresh, and balanced, revealing lovely fruit with aromas of black berries and delicate mineral notes. Take advantage of the last bottles of this exceptional 2005 still available at the Château! - Delivery in a wooden case at no extra charge for orders of 6 bottles shipped within France

Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Ideally situated between Cheval-Blanc, La Dominique, and Ripeau, Château Jean-Faure was acquired in 2004 by Olivier Decelle, who also owns Mas Amiel in Roussillon and a stake in the young Nuit-Saint-Georges wine merchant, Decelle-Villa. Thoroughly reimagined, Jean Faure reveals, vintage after vintage, striking and exciting similarities to the Pomerol style of Cheval-Blanc, without being a mere copy. For Jean Faure explores, with its Cabernets, a “Pinot-like” fruitiness that is uniquely its own. This evolution was only possible by focusing the estate’s efforts on significant agronomic improvements. Cabernet Franc is no longer considered here as a blending component but is regarded as the heart of the wine.

For fans of new-style wines, made using the Parker method, with heavy oak aging and over-extraction. A shame—this château has lost a lot of its former glory.

It's starting to open up—a nice surprise for those who have been patient enough to wait a little longer.
