La Greffière Castle
Located in La Roche Vineuse, the Château de la Greffière estate has been an integral part of the Mâconnais region’s historic winemakers since 1585.
Today, the fourth generation of the family manages Château de la Greffière using traditional methods and with respect for the terroirs.
Xavier GREUZARD and Gaylord PETRILLO currently co-manage the estate, applying high standards and precision to their work. Using modern equipment, they rely on traditional farming wisdom to guide the care they provide to the vineyards and their terroirs. Thriving vines produce healthy, high-quality grapes, allowing their aromatic character to shine through during gentle winemaking processes that are kept as simple as possible. With 60 hectares under production, the estate is able to offer a diverse range of wine styles.

This very hilly region in southern Burgundy is home to various appellations, such as “Bourgogne Aligoté” and “Mâcon La Roche-Vineuse.” Château de la Greffière cultivates the four Burgundian grape varieties: “Chardonnay” and “Aligoté” for whites, and “Pinot Noir” and “Gamay” for reds. These varieties were not chosen at random; they are ideally suited to producing high-quality wines on the estate’s prized terroirs. As evidenced by the various AOCs in the region, these grape varieties develop their own distinct characteristics and offer a range of wines that are as diverse as they are elegant, such as “Bourgogne” and “Saint-Véran.” Thanks to this privileged geographical location, Château de la Greffière offers no fewer than eight appellations.

As passionate fans of Gamay, the owners of Château de la Greffière were delighted to expand the estate in early 2019 into the Beaujolais region with Saint-Amour, where they aim to become ambassadors for this magnificent appellation.
