Bouchard Père & Fils - Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens 2010

Bouchard Père & Fils - Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens 2010

A new vintage, the 2009 was rated: RVF 17/20, Gault Millau 16/20
Classified as a "tête de cuvée" as early as 1855 by Dr. Lavalle, the Rugiens-Hauts vineyard is undoubtedly one of the most renowned in Pommard. The estate became the owner of this terroir in 1853 and still owns the 42 ares acquired at that time. Complex, with fruit aromas complemented by animal notes and a hint of oak, this is a rich, robust, and intense wine with spicy and peppery notes. A truly beautiful wine with character!

Rated estate (2023 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune-based wine merchant, founded in 1731, owns more than 142 plots across 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. This first-rate wine-growing heritage allows Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce approximately 600,000 bottles out of the total three million units produced here each year, with the majority of production coming from purchased grapes for the grand crus and from carefully selected musts for the whites other than those from the estate. Impressive success with both whites and reds in recent vintages.
