Rating: Gault Millau 19/20, RVF 15/20, Guide Hachette 1* Star (Very successful wine)
“Let’s not be afraid to say it: Belland is one of Burgundy’s finest winemakers, and this Pommard (2004) is proof of that,” according to Gault Millau 2007. “Les Cras” comes from the word “craie” (chalk) and reflects the nature of the subsoil in this vineyard near Volnay. A refined and structured wine, opening with an expressive and complex nose, a dense and rich palate, and a refined and elegant finish. A true testament to great talent!

About the estate:
An historic estate, first mentioned in the 18th century, now covering 24 hectares. At the helm are Roger Belland, who took over in 1981; his daughter Julie, who joined in 2003 and oversees winemaking; and their new partner, Martin Boyer. No certified organic production here, but sustainable and carefully managed viticulture (full grass cover in the vineyard, no herbicides), and wines of great consistency.
