Ratings: Robert Parker 90–92/100, Bettane & Desseauve 17/20, RVF 16/20
“The 736 is based on the 2008 vintage, a year that produced pure, elegant champagnes, built on energy and tension, in a style that I personally love. It displays incredible aromatic nuances, finely sculpted, with chiseled fruit. An intense, briny finish with citrus notes transcends the style. This promises to be a great 700 series for Jacquesson Champagnes, perhaps the best.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2026 guide): 5* Stars (Exceptional producers who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)
About the estate:
Brought to the pinnacle of success by the Chiquet brothers, Laurent and Jean-Hervé, the house is the standard-bearer for champagne among discerning connoisseurs. Recently, François Pinault acquired a stake in the company. We highly recommend these great, deep, and elegant champagnes. Each new Cuvée 700 (now 743) is a major creation and receives the utmost attention. It then ages under cork before reappearing as a DT (late disgorgement) version. The single-vineyard wines with the ultimate depth come from Dizy (Corne-Bautray, Chardonnay), Aÿ (Vauzelle-Terme, Pinot Noir), and Avize (Champ-Caïn, Chardonnay), and are produced only when the terroir is at its peak. The 2009 vintages exhibit exemplary vibrant warmth and endless depth. Magnificent.

Rated estate (2026 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)
About the estate:
A new chapter in the company’s history begins with the departure of brothers Laurent and Jean-Hervé Chiquet, who elevated this fine house to the highest echelons of the Champagne region. The Artémis Group has now taken the reins under the leadership of Jean Garandeau, but the teams remain unchanged: Yann Le Gall, cellar master, and Mathilde Perrier, vineyard manager, are still here to carry on the house’s spirit. The 700 cuvées account for the majority of production. What a long way we’ve come since the release of 728, from the 2000 vintage! The estate releases a late-disgorged cuvée every year; the first to be produced and released was 733, based on the 2005 vintage. Only a few single-vineyard cuvées are produced, depending on the quality of the vintage.

Not really a high-end Champagne; classified as a "Brut de grande maison," it lacks finesse and is bitter.

I’ve been enjoying this Champagne ever since the 734 vintage, and I still find it absolutely delightful. Try these vintages with some Pata Negra ham—it’s absolutely magnificent!

The 736 cuvée, which is based on the 2008 vintage, is currently one of the best non-vintage champagnes available.

The first bottle probably had a slight flaw and an unpleasant odor, but the second bottle was perfect—a wine that was both lively and delicate, with a good finish.
