“The 2006 Cramant Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Vieille Vigne—disgorged in late 2012 —is beautifully fragrant with marine and iodine notes, toasted rye, and a palate of equal richness, also iodine-driven and mouth-watering, with very crystalline mineral elements that provide a delightfully dynamic counterpoint, extended by aromas of apple, pear, and fresh lemon. This beauty deserves the utmost attention.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2015 guide) 18/20 (Reference wine)
Rated estate (2026 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
Pierre and Sophie Larmandier, along with their son Arthur, have been cultivating 16 hectares using biodynamic methods for over twenty years. Few wineries, across all regions, can boast such consistency at this high level. The range is remarkably well-crafted and offered at reasonable prices. Among the estate’s legendary vintages, the “Vieille Vigne du Levant” is unquestionably a benchmark of the Côte des Blancs. The style features creamy textures where balance is a central focus. In this understated elegance, one often finds the very best the Côte des Blancs has to offer. A highly sought-after destination.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated 17/20 (Outstanding)
About the wine:
The nose is currently quite reserved, and the palate remains very tight, with notes of lemony butter and a lively structure. It will take some patience for it to fully express itself.

Wine rated (2013 guide) 93/100 (Excellent wine)
About the wine:
The 2006 Cramant Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Vieille Vigne — disgorged in late 2012 — is beautifully fragrant with marine and briny notes, toasted rye, and a palate that is equally briny and mouth-watering, with very crystalline mineral elements that provide a deliciously dynamic counterpoint, extended by aromas of apple, pear, and fresh lemon. This gem deserves the utmost attention.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2015 guide) 16,5/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the wine:
The 2006 and 2005 Cramant Old Vines share a dense texture, a full-bodied palate, and a smooth, compact mouthfeel; one could hardly imagine a better expression of this terroir.
About the estate:
Although his family hails from Cramant, Pierre Larmandier has settled in Vertus and produces wine from plots spread across the grands crus of the Côte des Blancs, in Cramant (the sumptuous Vieille Vigne du Levant cuvée), Chouilly, Oger, and Avize. The result is a magnificent Les Chemins d'Avize, produced since 2009. Stainless steel and barrels have given way to oak casks, in which vinification takes place without the addition of yeast. The range showcases the dedicated work in the vineyard (certified biodynamic).

9.2: For lovers of classic champagne, with all the aromas of pastries, butter, nuts, mineral notes, citrus, apple, and more—and a palate that’s lively with excellent acidity. A safe bet offering good value for money.

A pleasant, full-bodied wine with good structure and a hint of bitterness. Best cellared for 2–3 years to allow it to develop. Overpriced for the quality.
