Bodegas Briego
Bodegas Briego, owned by the Benito Hernando brothers (Fernando, Gaspar, and Javier), is located in Fompedraza, a village with a long winemaking tradition. Taking over from their father, they began by purchasing vineyards and, in 1988, established themselves in the municipalities of Curiel de Duero, Pesquera, and Penafiel.
Today, Bodegas Briego’s vineyard comprises 70 hectares in production, with meticulous attention paid to quality and the cultivation of vines over 60 years old. In 1992, the Benito Hernando brothers produced their first wine under the DO Ribera del Duero appellation.
Bodegas Briego ’s wines are made from the finest Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes, carefully selected to suit the different wine styles: Joven, Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva. They are vinified using controlled fermentation to achieve the highest quality in terms of body, structure, and fruit aromas. After resting for several months in stainless steel tanks, the wines are aged in French and American oak barrels.
