Bodegas Briego
Bodegas Briego, owned by the Hernando brothers (Fernando, Gaspar, and Javier), is located in Fompedraza, a village with a long tradition of wine-making. Taking over from their father, they began by buying vineyards and in 1988, they established themselves in the municipalities of Curiel de Duero, Pesquera, and Penafiel.
Today, the Bodegas Briego vineyard has 70 hectares in production, with careful attention paid to the quality and production of vines that are over 60 years old. In 1992, the Benito Hernando brothers produced their first wine under the DO Ribera del Duero appellation.
Bodegas Briego wines are produced from the best Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes, carefully selected to suit the different types of wine: Joven, Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva. They are vinified under controlled fermentation to obtain the best quality in terms of body, structure, and fruit aromas. After resting for a few months in stainless steel vats, the wines are aged in French and American oak barrels.
