Robert Parker

Creta Roble 2011 is a 100% Tempranillo aged for 4 to 5 months in French and American oak, made from old vines over 60 years old. An exceptional wine, a Ribeira del Duero bursting with fruit and notes of licorice, blackcurrant jam, pencil shavings, espresso, and hints of toasted oak. Full-bodied and very fruity, ripe, it will be enjoyed over the next 2 to 3 years." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Slow to open up, with tannins dominating the fruit.

For some reason, Parker overrates and oversells Spanish wines. He must have some inside information. One day it's the best wine in the world, the next it's an exceptional bottle. This one is pleasantly distinctive, full-bodied but very rustic, and can in no way be considered an extraordinary wine. It can be drunk without shame but without making a big deal of it.

Still a little young, but full of promise, a complex wine with a beautiful dark color, aromas of red fruit and a hint of vanilla, a very nice finish on the palate, pleasant to drink... even young.
