Sakurao
It all began in 1918 with the founding of Chugoku Jozo. The group took the time to refine its alcohol production to the highest possible standard in order to offer flavorful sweet wines that are recognized and appreciated by all Japanese people. A century later (in 2018), the Japanese distillerySakurao was established. Based in the city of Hatsukaichi, in Hiroshima Prefecture, this facility—rich in heritage and experience—is situated on the shores of the Seto Inland Sea, facing Miyajima Island.
Sakurao is also recognized for its commitment to the environment. In fact, the spring water used in the alcohol production process is drawn from the Oze River, located just a short walk from the distillery. The same goes for most of the botanicals, which are grown in Hiroshima and the areas surrounding the distillery.
Local, artisanal production is one of Sakurao’s greatest strengths.
Cocktail idea to enjoy the Original Gin:Pink
Lady—4 cl Sakurao Original Gin
—1 cl grenadine syrup
—2 cl lemon juice
Place these 3 ingredients in a shaker, add a few ice cubes, and shake vigorously. Then strain out the ice and excess water, and enjoy with or without a straw!
Cocktail idea for enjoying Classic Gin: Gin and Tonic
- 2.5 cl Sakurao Classic Gin
- 1.5 cl lemon juice
- 5 cl ginger ale
Place the Sakurao Classic Gin and lemon juice, along with ice cubes, into a shaker. Shake vigorously, then pour the mixture into a glass. To finish the cocktail, top it off with ginger ale, then enjoy!
