A1710

The A1710 adventure began in 2006, conceived by Yves Assier de Pompignan. The name was inspired by the arrival of his ancestor, Jean Assier, in Martinique in 1710.

The A1710 estate is located in the famous and iconic Habitation du Simon, situated in the town of Le François on the eastern side of the island.

 

The opening of this distillery goes against the grain: it is the first new distillery to open after more than a century of successive closures in Martinique.

The history and richness of the Caribbean terroir are at the heart of the A1710 project. The ambition is to revive the ancestral methods of rum production in Martinique, including the manual harvesting of sugarcane throughout the year and the use of a hybrid Charentais still. Valuing manual labor and respecting nature are key principles at the estate; this is why, for example, sugarcane is grown using organic farming methods.

The company’s slogan,“A1710, extraordinary rums,” isn’t quite accurate. Their rums are also innovative, bold, and delicious!
