“With its notes of graphite, stewed black fruits, and garrigue, the 2006 Réservée rouge (50% Carignan) is all finesse and medium-bodied, making it accessible when young...” (Guide Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2009 - RVF)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated (2016 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the estate:

Patrick Reverdy and his son Laurent are deeply attached to their Carignan vines, which have become a specialty of the Corbières-Boutenac terroir. We are right in the heart of the designated appellation for this wine. The entry-level cuvée is a benchmark in Corbières. The Roman-Pauc cuvée, named in honor of a family ancestor, blends Carignan and Grenache vines well over forty years old with younger Syrah and Mourvèdre vines.

Rated estate (2017 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Driven by a desire to showcase the unique character of the Boutenac terroir, five generations have built the reputation of this leading estate in the Corbières region. Patrick Reverdy and his son Laurent have dedicated themselves to highlighting their old Carignan vines, the backbone of their production. Vinified using carbonic maceration, Carignan makes up half of the blend for the iconic Romain Pauc cuvée. While many producers in the Corbières region are advancing rapidly, La Voulte-Gasparets has kept pace and, in recent vintages, has produced consistently high-quality wines that, moreover, often age beautifully.
