Les Combariolles offers greater character and depth than L’Infidèle, with a lively, vibrant quality and an energy that is all elegance. As always, this single-vineyard selection is less open in its youth: the wine’s balance already allows one to sense the vibrancy of this magnificent stony terroir. The years will only enhance it!

Wine rated 17/20 (Top-rated wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the wine:

Sappy, long, elegant, full-bodied tannins, with great finesse and excellent aging potential.

About the estate:

Rigor and care, intelligence and precision, along with a clear vision of what makes a great wine, have propelled the reds of the talented Vincent Goumard to the top. They embodied an exemplary classicism that never veered toward austerity. The evolution toward a captivating sensuality, without losing any of these qualities, marks the culmination of a cycle dominated by precision and refined tannins. The whites are also progressing, notably with a cuvée that sparkles with freshness. New for 2020: the entire range is now bottled in Burgundy-style bottles.

Wine rated (2015 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

Powerful and robust, this red wine, with its smoky and balsamic notes, has remarkable depth. Like the most ambitious and successful wines from this region, it is clearly built to age.

About the estate:

After initially working in consulting, Vincent and Isabelle Goumard took over this beautiful estate in 2004, which had been founded in the early 1990s by Jean-Pierre Jullien. Although they had previously visited some twenty estates in Languedoc and Roussillon, they were captivated by the power of this place, nestled in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac. The couple quickly demonstrated the full extent of their talent, with a keen understanding of their vineyard plots and geological variations, a deep respect for the vines, and exacting winemaking standards. Over the years, their style has refined, producing increasingly delicate and complex wines with elegant structure and magnificent aging potential. Mas Cal Demoura is undoubtedly one of the region’s leading estates. Following an interesting but somewhat underwhelming 2021 vintage, the estate has produced superb 2022 wines. A third star is clearly within reach.
