Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2026 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
With one foot in the Pic Saint-Loup region and the other in the Coteaux du Languedoc appellation and the IGPs, the Orliac family owns 80 hectares of vineyards in the garrigue, in the heart of the Hérault. Jean oversees the estate’s future with great wisdom, despite the losses the family has suffered. With several wine lines spread across this wide range of terroirs (Bergerie de l’Hortus, Clos du Prieur), the Orliac family strives to produce wines of great precision, particularly the reds, which are refined and elegant. The style of the wines is evolving, with a premium cuvée, Le Dit de l'Hortus, remaining true to the estate’s tradition, while the other cuvées are moving toward greater lightness to be more approachable sooner.
