Clos des Reboussiers - Pic Saint Loup Spoutnik 2018
91/100
RVF
15,5/20
Bettane & Desseauve
Spoutnik refers to the shape of the vat in which the cuvée is aged for 18 months: a timeless capsule. This small parcel of Syrah and Grenache is presented in a very airy style with generous fruitiness. The palate is fine, very slender, with notes of red fruit, sweet spices, and menthol. Great potential for development!

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 15.5/20 (2017 vintage) (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2020 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Christophe Peyrus, from the renowned Clos Marie, supported by three friends, took over an estate in the Cazevieille terroir in Pic Saint-Loup, in limestone areas at an altitude of over 300 meters, at the highest point of the appellation. The estate has 8.5 hectares in production, predominantly Syrah complemented by Grenache. The estate produces two red wines, including Spoutnik, and one white wine. The low protection of these delicate wines means that they must be transported and stored with care, just like those of Clos Marie. We were impressed by the 2018 Pic Saint-Loup vintage.

Wine rating (2021 guide) 91/100 (2017 vintage)
Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About the estate:
A new chapter is beginning for this estate, located in the upper reaches of the appellation, the only one in the village of Cazevieille. Purchased in 2019 by Jean-Pierre Girard (who already owns an estate in Valflaunès), Clos des Reboussiers will continue along the same lines as the estate previously named Christophe Peyrus, established since the first vintage in 2013. Christophe Peyrus ensures continuity and remains present to ensure that this little gem (with its unique terroirs of flint, dolomite, and pink limestone) continues to develop. Jean Vallon, the brilliant artist behind the project, designs an original label for the red wine each year; Spoutnik, the famous concrete vat with its space-age look, remains firmly in place in the square cellar!
