Rating: Bettane & Desseauve 18/20, RVF 17/20
“This full-bodied wine also possesses finesse and intense black fruit, along with incredibly charming notes of violet. ” (Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2010 - Bettane & Desseauve). The estate’s flagship wine, vinified and aged with great skill, where the Cabernet Franc reveals all its intensity and complexity, but above all a beautiful expression of the terroir!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2026 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
Now more than ever a benchmark in the Loire Valley, Domaine des Alliet—Claude, Philippe, and their son Pierre—is dedicated to crafting great Cabernet Franc wines. The new generation has moved away from overly oaked styles, and the wines are becoming more refined in their youth while retaining excellent aging potential. The Coteau-de-Noiré, grown on south-facing clay-limestone soil, shines for its aging potential and its nuanced intensity.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
The unassuming Claude and Philippe Alliet pioneered a new style in Chinon in the 1990s. Their Vieilles Vignes cuvées (gravel soils, vines aged 70 to 90 years, aged 18 months in concrete tanks), L’Huisserie (upper hillside and flint-clay plateau), and above all Coteau de Noiré (steep south-facing clay-limestone slope), have captivated Cabernet Franc enthusiasts with their deep color and incredible density. But there is no set formula for Philippe Alliet, a refined taster and outstanding winemaker, supported by his son, Pierre, since 2005, who helps him craft wines that are ever deeper and more refined. Starting in 2010, Bordeaux barrels were phased out in favor of 500-liter casks, and the proportion of new oak was significantly reduced.
