The 1996 Quarts de Chaume Bellerive has fully benefited from the small "miracles" of the mild Angevin climate, earning its place among the appellation’s exceptional vintages. With rich, intense notes of candied orange, it is now at its peak and can continue to develop its aromatic profile over the next few years. A legendary vintage for a gem of a wine at a special price!

Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

A wine enthusiast, Alain Château is a passionate connoisseur of terroirs. Since 2005, he has built up an impressive portfolio of vineyards in the Bordeaux region and the Loire Valley, where he owns three estates: Château de Varennes (7 hectares in Savennières), Château de la Guimonière (19 hectares in Coteaux-du-Layon, Chaume, Anjou, and Cabernet d’Anjou—including 16 hectares of Chenin), and Château Bellerive, located in the heart of the Quarts-de-Chaume appellation on the left bank of the Loire. The sweet wines combine power, elegance, and freshness and hold their own within their respective appellations. We did not taste the reds.

5-Star Rated Estate (Outstanding Production)

About the estate:

Alain Château, an industrialist with a passion for wine, took over this historic Quarts-de-Chaume vineyard in 2004. He enlisted Denis Dubourdieu, a renowned Bordeaux oenologist who also owns a Sauternes cru classé, as his advisor. With its dazzling golden hue, this cuvée combines the sweetness of quince and honey with aromas of candied fruit in its bouquet. Sweet, fresh, and rich, the palate finishes with very pleasant, warm notes. Don’t wait to discover it.
