Clos Roussely
Clos Roussely, which had been an outbuilding of the village château since the 18th century, was purchased by Anatole, Vincent’s great-grandfather, who settled there as a winemaker and distiller. Marcel, Vincent’s grandfather, subsequently expanded the vineyard and founded a wine trading company in 1947. In the early 1980s, Jean Claude and Nicole, Vincent’s father and aunt, devoted themselves to expanding the wine trading company and entrusted a local winemaker with the care of the Clos Roussely vineyards.

Vincent Roussely decided to take over the estate and the buildings of the former wine merchant in 2001. Since then, he has been tirelessly breathing new life into this place, renovating it to better welcome guests and share his passion for wine. The vineyard is located in the heart of the village of Angé and overlooks the banks of the Cher River. Situated within the Touraine and Touraine-Chenonceaux appellation area, it spans 8 hectares certified organic since 2007. A unique feature of the estate is that the wines are vinified in tuffeau limestone cave cellars beneath the vineyard. The estate’s oldest vines are 80 years old. The clay-limestone terroir, rich in flint, combined with the temperate climate, allows for a superb expression of Sauvignon Blanc. This grape variety accounts for 80% of the estate’s vineyard area. The estate’s other grape varieties include Côt, Pineau d’Aunis, Cabernet Franc, and Gamay. The soil is carefully maintained through plowing and scarification, without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or chemical compounds. The oldest vines are worked using horses. Clos Roussely is dedicated to protecting plant and animal diversity within the estate. As you stroll through the Clos, you may encounter horses, donkeys, and sheep.
