“A nose of fragrant beeswax, honey, almonds, and toasted nuts with hints of orange peel, in a toasty, savory style. A hint of smoke over notes of sweet-and-sour marmalade and honeyed spices. ” (Decanter World Wine Awards 2012) This Madeira will keep for several months after opening.

Review and comment by Mr. DIDIER P. Published on April 5, 2018

The Sercial grape variety is full-bodied and astringent. In this 1995 vintage, time has mellowed it and transformed it into a masterpiece. The nose offers caramelized vanilla notes with a delicate hint of coffee. On the palate, prunes and spices dominate, along with raisins, walnuts, and almonds, without weighing down the mouthfeel, as a subtle astringency remains to keep the wine light and airy. It offers an inimitable impression and flavor—slightly austere at first, but it melts into a beautiful, lingering finish.
