At the end of the tasting in December 2024, we were all captivated by this Bandol, which remained fresh despite having aged for nearly 25 years. It boasts a complex bouquet and an elegant, refined palate, revealing well-integrated tannins, lovely minerality, and a fresh, cherry-driven finish. It has everything it takes to be a real delight!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated wine (2013 guide) 19/20 (Wine of exceptional quality)
Rated estate (2020 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the wine:
This vintage is exceptional, with sumptuous textures. A benchmark Vannières.
About the estate:
The estate is one of Provence’s great vineyards. Éric Boisseaux, a pillar of the Bandol appellation, is passing the torch and now works alongside his son Charles-Eric. While for many years they produced only a single grand cuvée in all three styles, with the arrival of the younger generation the range has evolved and a breath of fresh air has swept through the cellar. The classic red Bandols have an undeniable capacity for aging, quickly developing notes of tobacco and leather that mellow gracefully over time: they rank among the finest expressions of the appellation’s reds.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
This family venture began in 1956 with Colette Boisseaux, continued with her son Éric, and is now carried on by her grandson Charles-Éric. The estate comprises a 34-hectare vineyard, centered around a 19th-century château, whose older wine cellar attests to winemaking activities dating back to the 16th century.

This 25-year-old wine has aged remarkably well and still has real aging potential. It has a surprising freshness for its age. However, the attack is ultimately marred by tannins, the mid-palate is rather delicate, and there is no finish. For 60 euros, I’ve had much better wines.

A pleasant wine, but not great value for the price. I liked the balance in the initial impressions, but it lacked depth.

The azure hue in this red wine makes for a delightful blend, one that exudes talent at every stage of production. I should have ordered more—much more...

Full-bodied, well-rounded, and complex, this is a great bottle right now, but it has already passed its peak.
