Rating: RVF 16.5/20, Guide Hachette 2** (Remarkable Wine)
“A superb 2009. Selected from specific plots, harvested at peak ripeness, with a long vatting period and carefully controlled aging, the result is a wine with an elegant nose and beautiful maturity, toasty and fruity (candied black fruits). The palate is of rare elegance, balanced and generous. The tannins are silky, and the finish lingers long on black cherry and sweet spices. A very harmonious wine...” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2012)

Rated estate (2020 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the estate:

This is one of the most famous estates in Provence. It belongs to the Combard family, who manage this 85-hectare vineyard, 30 hectares of which are leased. The vines, located along the coast on schist soil, have been cultivated using organic methods since 1979. Steps are currently underway to transition the entire estate to biodynamic farming. We applaud this commitment, which is no small feat for an estate of this size. While the wines are among Provence’s most reliable offerings, the family also goes the extra mile in welcoming visitors and, during the sunny days of the season, offers a cultural program well worth the visit.
