Château Rochecolombe - Saint-Andéol 2019
3*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
"An excellent promise!"
With its perfectly extracted fruit, the Saint-Andéol cuvée, aged in oak barrels, reveals great aromatic complexity and a beautiful length on the palate. Powerful yet silky, the wine evolves from vanilla notes to more complex aromas of candied fruit, prunes, spices, and roasted notes, with a mocha finish.

About the estate:
Formerly owned by Flemish songwriter Robert Herberigs, this 28-hectare estate in Ardèche (certified organic) has been run since 1998 by Roland Terrasse, his grandson. It owes its name to the "dove-white" stone used to build the Directoire-style château. Often in the spotlight for its Côtes-du-Rhône and Villages wines.

Concentrated, balanced, can be aged for 1-2 years as the pronounced woodiness may not be to everyone's taste. 17-18/20. 07/16/21. And on October 7, 2022, the woodiness is almost imperceptible. Aromatic, round. Very nice QP!

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 11/25/2021
The deep garnet color sets the tone: this expressive wine, with its robust and full-bodied structure, is built on highly concentrated tannins that give pride of place to well-cooked black fruits mixed with empyreumatic aromas. The long oak aging, which is still very present, and the high acidity mask a certain lack of finesse. Warm, strongly spiced finish. A little time in the cellar would be desirable, unless you intend to reserve this tannic and heady bottle for the last barbecues of the season with merguez sausages or for oriental cuisine.

A superb Rhône wine, silky and velvety without any harshness; perfectly balanced black fruit flavors. A success at a reasonable price.
