Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 14.5/20 (2016 vintage) (Good wine)
Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
A classic estate in the Mercurol region, which consistently produces supple wines meant to be enjoyed young. The Gaby cuvée is often more ambitious, though in some vintages with less substance, the oak can be a bit too pronounced. The reds here are more successful than the whites, as confirmed by our tasting of the 2017 vintage.

About the estate:
Located in Mercurol, the estate proudly flies the flag for the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, of which it is one of the most reliable producers, particularly with its Gaby vintages, which are more ambitious and complex.

The perfectly integrated aging yields a tannic yet silky texture—supple and juicy—with notes of ripe red fruit. A lovely spicy, peppery finish. It’s well-crafted and already delicious on the palate… in short, it’s classic Colombier, though it doesn’t quite reach the excellence of the Gaby cuvée.
