“The 2010 Gigondas is a standout wine from the appellation for this vintage. Made from 100% Grenache (which is somewhat unusual), it displays a deep ruby-purple color along with rich, concentrated aromas of red and black fruits intertwined with notes of damp stone and spices. Best enjoyed over the next decade. ” (Wine Advocate 2011 - Robert Parker)

Guide Hachette des vins
Wine noted (guide 2013) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the wine:
South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Bordeaux, Champagne—Xavier Vignon explored vineyards across the globe before settling in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1998 to establish a "niche" wine merchant. Made from a rigorous selection of specific vineyard plots, this Gigondas spent twelve months in oak barrels. On the nose, red fruits play a key role in the aromatic intensity; the tasters detected no woody notes, a sign of well-balanced aging. With a clean, fruity attack, the palate reveals firm tannins that are beginning to soften and should reach a nice roundness in three or four years. “A modern style,” concluded one juror.

A full-bodied wine, but not overly so. Tasted in December 2019.
